Forlorn

With what a deep devotedness of woe

I wept thy absence - o’er and o’er again

Thinking of thee, still thee, till thought grew pain,

And memory, like a drop that, night and day,

Falls cold and ceaseless, wore my heart away!

- Thomas Moore

It is said love is unconditional, but relationships are not. The greatest pain that comes from love is loving someone you can never have. And the irony of love is that the heart falls blindly into that very point in the abyss where it is the deepest.

Is the sadness of loss greater than the happiness of togetherness? Never, I must say. The joy of togetherness is lasting, the sadness of loss momentary. Each moment, each occassion, each conversation, each kiss stays with you for life. Time helps us overcome sadness of loss, unless of course, you have been jilted or assumed you have been jilted. Lovers have separated since time immemorial, even then love stays evergreen, never goes out of fashion, because love is ageless. If you are separated, it is no fault of love. Love is pure and saccharine. So instead of ruing separation, if we sit down and remember moments of togetherness, the moments when your beloved stood by you through thick and thin, the moments when he/she made you smile, the moments when those zany little things done by him/her really took your breath away, the pain shall fade away, slowly but, surely.

MERRY XMAS TO ALL!
